| Description: | One large branch of gold coral different from the others still the same pink color. One rock with whitish-grey soft type coral, a brittle star, several small pieces of coral extended over one rock. One rock with large corals (3). Photographs #23-31 Roll #1. Worm like structure calcareous 6-7 on 2 rocks 1.5 cm - 4 cm length 2 mm - 5 mm across pure white. One small sponge whitish color abt 1/2 cm across one wormlike structure constructed from sand and silt. Wormlike structures sticking out from the rock abt 1 cm length 1 mm diameter. Some soft tissue looking features flat on the rock 2 mm diameter. One white tree looking growth small vesicles on tips. 1000-1280 m depth range. numerous basalt fragments - minimal crust thickness, some highly altered basalts, smaller fragments of crusts1.5 - 2 cm thick - botryoidal - eight (8) bags collected, some lime stone & pumice also. |
