Sample 1,2,5,6,8,9 - pillow fragments; fine to medium grained; 0-8 mm glass mostly badly altered; aphyric; 0-3 mm Mn and/or Mn + palagonite (except #2 1-9 mm unlayered Mn); minor vesicles .1-1 mm <1%-2%. Sample 3 - pillow frag (?); pc phyric; 0-15 mm Mn; .2-3 mm vesicles; alteration rind visible on cut sfc. Sample 4 - breccia; 3 (1 x 3 cm) fg. aphyric clasts of basalt w/0-2 mm glass set in clay (palagonite + Fe oxide) matrix with glass shards. Sample 7,11 - block fragment, no glass, aphyric, no vesicles, minor palagonite/Mn coating. Sample 10 - pillow frag - 0-9 mm glass; upper 3 mm badly altered; 0-11 mm Mn - 2 layers - upper black lower orange; aphyric. |
