| Description: | Described by: D. Bauchelle Trawl # 137 is about 97% organic matter and 3% clear, subangular quartz sand. Forams probably comprise the largest percentage of material @ 40%, followed closely by small gastropods @ 30%. The remainder is about evenly divided between bryozoans,radiolarians, pteropods and ostracods, and then by a few pelecypod and echinoid fragments. There are fewer of these last two then there are quartz grains. The whole mass was loosely cemented together when it dried in the trawl box. Most of the material is smaller than coarse sand. |
